Melbourne and Memories 2009

/ Wednesday, 16 January 2013 /
It's almost midnight and I find myself trawling through past holiday, family, high school and miscellaneous photos. I love rediscovering these and, in some way, reshaping those experiences by stringing the bits and pieces I can recall from that trip, from that time and place.

The Great Ocean Road. Oddly, the Twelve Apostles weren't what I remember. It was this particular formation and Razor Rock that astounded me.

Melbourne's Royal Exhibition Centre in Carlton Gardens. From afar it seemed quite grand. But, up close, it was obviously a mere plaster and cement facade. It was almost like a new building, lacking any of that historical and worn-and-torn character :(

1. St Kilda park. You wouldn't have guessed that next minute it was pouring... and in the next few minutes it was all lovely and warm. Melbourne's weather is like a hormonal teenager.
2. Christmas decorations in a cute ornaments store. It had a lot of Venetian Masks imported from Italy. I distinctly remember that it was at least 2 months before Christmas; the store owners were probably just super prepared and keen for the xmas season.

However, the main purpose of our 2009 Melbourne trip was to visit the NGV's Dali exhibition.
I could probably talk about all the paintings, sketches and objects that I peered at. But that would probably bore any one out of their minds.

To put it into numbers, I did wait (though not very patiently) in line for 2 hours.   And then I stayed in the exhibt for 4 hours. Yes, four hours. I can be a tad obsessive.

Speaking of art exhibitions (and my unhealthy obsession), I'm going to see the Toulouse-Lautrec exhibition this weekend so I shall keep you posted!

Have a lovely week :)

I do the same thing. Going through old photos, and wondering what happened to time and smiling to myself over treasured moments.
