Girl with a Pearl Earring - Vermeer copy

/ Tuesday, 11 September 2012 /
  1.  The original painting by Vermeer. She looks so vibrant!
  2. Half way.  My subject looks half-amphibian, half-Voldemort. This was the result of my attempt to fix her nose and overall skintone.
  3. My final copy.
Her skintone is no where near as pearlescent or "glowy" as the original. In fact, I'm of the opinion that my version looks like a hospital patient/ body from a morgue.  I'm justing going to blame that on my cheap acrylic paints (haha, the blame has to go somewhere!) and amateur skills. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with this. I completed this around the end of last year? This is an older work :)

Currently, this copy is hanging in our living room. It's one of those paintings in which the subject's eyes follow you as you walk around the room (I'm not kidding. If in doubt, you can test it right now) To be honest, it's slightly creepy and off-putting!

Another very famous Vermeer work - the Lacemaker.
Hope you enjoyed this short post :) Have a lovely day!

WOW. You did an AMAZING job. Seriously the only difference I can really see, is that your girl is a little thinner, other than that, it's spot on! I love it. You're so talented!
I love that painting the lacemaker too. So amazing :)
