Birthday celebration with the family

/ Tuesday, 25 September 2012 /

Of course, a birthday wouldn't be complete without a proper, multi-layered cake (I kid, it was so lovely of mum to get this!)

A merringue chococlate-hazelnut cake. I'm also convinced that the tempered choc scrolls on top taste of strawberries!

We have an odd tendency to not have birthday celebrations on the date of our birthdays. So, the weekend before, my fam and I went to Ribs and Rumps (for Sydney-siders, it's similar to Hurricanes but also has a branch in South Africa I believe..). We had some very flavoursome garlic king prawns and, it goes without saying, lamb and pork American ribs.

They also had a dessert promotion going, so we couldn't possibly let that pass (cue the sugar overkill); we had a key lime pie and some choc mousse.  Since I had just returned from a day of feasting at a picnic  it was so sad that I couldn't attempt a few more mouthfuls of the dessert D: .

The restaurant itself is very laid back and very dimly lit. It was so very amusing to see everyone put on their "bibs" before starting, with gusto, on the ribs.

Sorry for the super late month-old post (and also for the super grainy photos ;/ )!
Have a wonderful day :)

There wasn't any "pastry" per se. It was really just hazelnuet mouse and merringue!
Thanks for stopping by :)
